The village has looked beautiful bathed in sunshine these past few weeks and it’s lovely to see the cows back out on the common.
There is plenty going on in the shop and cafe in June so read on for more details.
SHOP NEWS …….
Salt Bakehouse are still popping up on a Tuesday morning from 10.30am. They are in the forecourt selling delicious sourdough and pastries for an hour.
The shop team strive to stock interesting products as well as the every day necessities so I have been asking some of the volunteers what their favourite things they buy from the shop are ……
Bex loves fruitcake and this one by Elizabeth Bothams ticks all of the boxes for a proper Yorkshire fruitcake - perfect with a cup of tea!
Bud is a fan of Ethical Addictions coffee, It is the same brand as we serve in the cafe. If you find yourself in need of a very speedy dessert, how about making Italian Affogato? Put a ball of Winston’s vanilla ice cream in a small bowl or cup.
Make a single shot of espresso (using ethical addictions of course!) and pour the hot coffee over the ice cream and serve immediately.
Fod likes unearthed smoked pancetta for its versatility. It makes a great addition to any stew or casserole if you fry it at the beginning with your onions, garlic and celery. Fod also makes a nice salad with the pancetta fried till crisp and tossed with leaves and topped with a poached or jammy boiled egg and some croutons.

TuSC -Tuesday storytelling club will be happening in half term. On Tuesday 27h May from 10-10.30 in the cafe.
DIGIHUB happens in the cafe on the second Monday of every month from 2pm - 3pm. It is specially designed to help you make the most of online services. If you or you know anyone who is maybe struggling with renewing their car tax online, or setting up online shopping, or who needs to do an online application please do encourage them to come along for some help. You can book a 1-1 session by telephoning the shop and reserving a slot 01453 616061. Or alternatively pop in on a the second Monday of the month and see how it works.
CRAFTERNOON happens every Monday afternoon in the cafe, you can bring whatever craft project you are working on and do it in the cafe whilst having a natter with other crafters and enjoying a coffee or cup of tea .

A little note on parking……….
Parking on the forecourt is for blue badge holders only. We would ask you kindly not to park on the gravel or on the forecourt unless you are loading and unloading for the parish rooms or are a blue badge holder. School, playgroup, walkers and emergency vehicles all need to safely access the forecourt and they can’t do this if it is being used as a car park.
